Some shadows are hard to shake.

And someone has a mean sense of humor.

And is springing nasty pranks around town. Who and why? And more importantly how can Keely Turner and Burke Sloan, the newest sheriff's deputy, stop the malicious prankster before someone gets hurt badly? Keely, the daughter of the richest man in the county, and Burke, a newcomer with his own family baggage, are attracted to each other in spite of their intentions. The fact that her brother and his nephew become enemies doesn't help either.

In the midst of this, the mystery baby needs to be identified. But soon Keely uncovers a clue that may lead to the baby's mother. Will the baby return to her mother or remain with her adoptive family? But over all hang the bigger questions. Whose is the spiteful mind behind the increasingly dangerous pranks? And will Keely and Burke be able to shed the disappointments of the past and the present and breakthrough to love? Only God can answer that.

Welcome to Steadfast, Wisconsin, a small town whose people and mysteries you may never forget~

Keely Turner is the daughter of the owner of the mill in Steadfast. She is the high school principal. She is also the one in charge of the Family Closet Ministry to those in need in her town. Her younger brother Grady is always in trouble it seems for breaking first one rule or another. He flaunts the fact that he is never caught and/or made to be responsible for his transgressions.
Burke Sloan is the new deputy in town. He is the guardian of his nephew Nick for one year while he finishes high school. Nick is having trouble adjusting to the fact his father has divorced his mother and gone across the country with another woman. He is feeling abandoned and acting out his frustrations. Burke also is finally dealing with the fact that when his wife died he cut himself off from the rest of his family because her death left him feeling like he had failed her.
His first day on the job Burke meets the high school principal who is a complete surprise to him. She is not a middle-aged lady with a bun, an attitude, and orthopedic shoes. She is young, attractive, and very compassionate. She is determined to get to the bottom of the pranks being perpetrated at the school. The problem with that is that her brother, who has been kicked out of yet another boarding school, and Burke’s nephew are the prime candidates for all the mischief and trouble going on at the school.
Burke and Keely find themselves thrown together more and more as the trouble escalates at the school. Both insist that their relationship remain professional even though both of them are coming to realize that there is definitely an attraction between them.
The sparks fly as the town becomes divided as the trouble increases and the threats move into the community at large. Add all the pressures of dealing with the cast of characters the often occupy a small town and the scene is set for some dramatic revelations.
I recommend this book for those looking for a book with intrigue, mystery and of course the sweet romance that you can expect to find in Lyn Cote’s work.

Autumn Shadow Clean Wholesome Mystery and Romance Northern Intrigue Book 2 edition by Lyn Cote Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

Trouble in this book kept me reading. I liked the good and the bad mixtures that keep you reading and enjoy the mixture. Some books don,t keep your reader interested because it is boring. That is why I enjoy you books because they keep you guessing. Keep up the good work will be reading all your books.
Once you read one of Lyn Cote's books in this series, you might just become addicted. It follows different characters who are in a small town, some from the same family, and weaves a love story with a little mystery. Thus, you can't leave without satisfying the desire to read the next one. Always love a good, clean read by an excellent author.
This is the second book in the Northern Intrigue series. It was even a better example of Christian characterin action.
Autumn's Shadow by Lyn Cote
Northern Intrigue Series Book Two
Keely Turner loves to give of herself to her town. Her heart is in it, even if she does so much because her family—her very wealthy family—doesn't give back to the community. When a series of incidents happen at the high school she is principal of, she starts working very closely with the new deputy in town.

Deputy Burke Sloan is getting used to the small-town atmosphere after living in Milwaukee. And that's not all that is new for him—he has his seventeen-year-old nephew to watch over. Not to forget the load of guilt he's been dragging around for way too many years.

There are so many interesting characters in this story. The teens who already have heavy issues in their lives, the crabby—no cantankerous, loud-mouth Veda, and more. Also, the continuing story from book one; Winter's Secret. The third book is Summer's End. Good Christian fiction with real life issues.
I am currently reading this entire series. The books are stand alone, but reading all of them, you learn a few extra things about some of the characters. I am very pleased with the "clean" romances. In Autumn's Shadow, there were twists and turns and I did not figure out who was involved until the end. That, for me, makes it a good book. I am very impressed with the author Lyn Cote. Great books. I do have to throw in one little negative comment - not just this author, but it seems to be a new thing for me - the female characters often "worries her lip between her teeth." I highly recommend these books, but be prepared to stay up late, reading them.
Thank you for another great story. I loved it because God's love lived in and through the people. The bible was used to tell us of God's love for the hurting to comfort and the lost to tell of salvation. I will share with all my friends this wonderful book. God bless.
This was my first inspirational romantic suspense book. I enjoy romantic suspense because I like a good mystery to be solved while the leads are falling in love. Autumn's Shadow provides two likeable leads in small town northern Wisconsin with all its quirks and blessings. Lyn Cote clearly captures the nature of a small, rural town, but adds the touches specific to Wisconsin.

The mystery involves who is vandalizing local buildings, and it's engrossing throughout the book. The balance of romance to suspense is just right, and the suspense keeps the reader intrigued as much as the love developing between the emotionally shut-down deputy and the all-too-giving school principal. My only quibble is that the outcome of the mystery is what I suspected from the beginning. While there are many options for whodunit here, and the author deftly makes us consider all these possibilities along with the two leads, I would have liked something just a bit more unexpected for the "big reveal."

This book is part of a series, but one can read it as a stand-alone and be thoroughly satisfied.
